The Coffee Table
This is a now page. I’ve called it The Coffee Table because growing up, when my parents had guests around for a catch-up, they would sit around the coffee table and chat about what was happening ‘now’. I also find it’s the place in the house where the things that are most relevant to ‘now’ accumulate.
Updated: 2026-09-01 from Copenhagen, Denmark where Summer is coming to an end, the leaves are turning brown and the days are getting shorter.
Recent News:
- Only about eight weeks remain of our Copenhagen adventure.
- We welcomed our second child into the world at the end of August and are now getting used to what it means to be a family of four. Mum and baby are both doing really well.
- I’ve been grappling with the joy of my second-born while trying to come to terms with the death of my uncle who passed away the day after my son was born.
- Thoroughly enjoying being able to watch The Greatest Rivalry.
Current Projects:
Personal
- Exclusively reading books by Scandanavian authors at the moment - both non-fiction and fiction.
- Am writing more frequently again after removing several barriers (most notably returning to ‘analogue’ writing in a notebook in addition to text files on the computer).
Professional
- Trying to crank through my remaining lab work so once I get to the end of October all that will remain is some analysis and a lot of writing.
